Hi alany,
I didn't mention anything about the topic of local people living in the park because I 100% agree with it.
Regarding the need for someone regardless of gender to have a guide, it does make sense indeed now that you say it, seen from the mountain perspective! Thank for your input.
Cheers!

Hi Anne,

me and my girlfriend we are considering going to NP El cocuy, other option would be NP Los nevados.

We will be there around 10th of July.

If you are still looking for some hiking partners, let me know.

Hi, I'm also thinking of going to El Cocuy for some day hikes around mid-July. However I'm a bit worried about the weather then, anyone know how it normally is in July?

Hi steven5 and cabbage 15! I am thinking to go to Ciudad Perdida first, so if I go there, then I would probably arrive in El Cocuy or Guican around 12th or 13th or 14th July. Ideally, I would love to do a 6-day trek if that's possible even if the full loop going through the East of the park is closed, there may be another one / otherwise few days walks here and there. Could be great to meet there!
Cabbage15, if it rains too much / weather too foggy, there are cabanas where people can stay instead of pitching the tent from which day walks can be done, so probably still worth checking El Cocuy out. Plus it is mountain weather so probably changing a lot during the day anyway. There is great information on the pnncocuy.com website about the cabanas and possible daily walks.

I am planning to go to El Cocuy sometime within the next week or so, and will be camping in the park. If anyone is interested in meeting up to go hiking then let me know.
