The entrances still blocked.
It hasn't been possible to get to an agreement between the government and the indians.

There is an update on the PNN El Cocuy website as of July 28th stating that an agreement has been made between the government and Uwa nation. Any word on if the park entrance is still blocked?

According to the web page of Parques Nacionales Naturales de Colombia, the park is not blocked by the Uwas but still closed for tourists.
Only officials of the park can enter.

Hello everyone,
just got back from el cocuy. The whole park is closed, it is not possible to do any day treks. There are park rangers at the entries that make sure no tourist enter (or so we've been told). We still went to la Hacienda la Esperanza which is still open. The guide from there can still take you to beautiful places!

Oh man. I lived in Colombia but didn't get around to doing this. Now, 4 years on I'm coming back to Latin America and this was top of my list! Is it still closed?

Hi Guys!
Me and my boyfriend will start our adventure in Colombia within 2 weeks! We fell in love with the mountains so we would like to go for a multiple day hike in El Cocuy. It would be so disappointed if the park is still closed :(
Is there anyone who recently visited the park? Unfortunately there is not much information on the internet about the current situation.
Hopefully someone can advise us :)
In case El Cocuy is not possible, what would be a good / comparable alternative?
Thanks guys!
Manon & Fernando
