Looking for some informaiton from someone who´s been to Nuqui!
We are thinking of going to Nuqui shortly but since flights are not cheap were wondering if it really is worth going there & is there enough to do to justify the expense? We`re interested in more activity than just hanging beaches, such as jungle walks/hikes etc, wildlife.... that sort of thing.
Also are there cheap places to stay there near the beach - cheap as in maybe 20,000 to 30,000 per person? I found info. on the lodges which sound lovely but are far too pricey. We´re just hoping to go and find something when we arrive.
I know it is pretty wet on the pacific coast but it sounds as if it might not be constant rain this time of year - hopefully!
Thanks!

Last January 6 tourists got kidnapped by the FARC, one of them is a Norwegian. Are you sure you want to go there now. Besides, the prices in the better resorts are pretty high.

I haven't been to Nuqui, but it does sound great. Personally, I'd rather go to Capurgana, on the Caribbean coast, which sounds amazing.
Tourists did indeed get kidnapped nearby - about 1 hour by boat north. If you do visit Nuqui, stay in or near the town.
Here's some tips on Nuqui .

Thanks for the input. I had heard about the kidnappings in Jan. but heard that since then there was a lot greater military presence. Just got back from Capurgana. It is worth going there - to either Capurgana or Sapsuro. Cap. is a nice little town with a small beach but great coastline. There are some good walks around there, though it is not wilderness nor does it have the remote feel that I think Nuqui would.

Nuqui is pretty incredible. There are some great places to stay just out of town. Already mentioned were the kidnappings that took place near to Morromico north of town...to the south you have the Pijiba Lodge and Piedra Piedra. You can hike to waterfalls, hot springs, surf, kayak, fish and enjoy the pacific coast - but do take into consideration security. I am certain that these resorts are crying out for clients right now.
Yes I've been.
Yes it's gorgeous and lots to see/do.
You could stay in town relatively cheaply but would need to hire a boat almost daily to see what's to see.

Nuquí is great. Have been in a lodge/bay called morromico in october. It's approximately 45 minutes in boat north of nuquí. I stayed with Javier and his two sons Don't know if he is still out there after the kidnappings took place. Just sleeping, eating and fishing.. Flew from Medellín to Nuqui with Satena. Flight was not cheap though but the pacific coast is definitely worth a visit. Together with Cabo de la Vela and Tayrona my favourite spot in Colombia.
anyone know about getting from nuqui up to panama? (including safety issues)
Not recommended.

Nuquí is pretty amazing if you haven't been. I recommend it. Depending on the time of year you go, but the many resorts outside of Nuquí have some of the most beautiful and remote beaches of colombia. There are a few different national parks in the area, good sight seeing/hiking, surfing can be great, and overall it is a pretty unique and humbling experience. Being so disconnected, I really enjoyed it. No Atms in Nuquí and then you have to take at least a half hour boat ride to the nearest resort. Oh, and if you want to enjoy your vacation, don't stay in Nuquí.
