I'm looking for a guide as a present for my brother. I did a quick forum search but couldn't find any recent results. Bradt and Footprint seem more highly recommended than LP?

Thanks!

My LP served me just fine. I keep looking at other brands every time I travel to another continent, but I always end up finding LP the most practical, succinct, funny guidebook. Especially the sub chapters with regional highlights contain quite a few places that aren't overrun by tourists, yet it's nice to have the maps, travel suggestions etc.

Perhaps as a bonus you can print off this free guidebook: http://www.colombiafacil.com/en/

Footprint is the way to go in South America. The Footprint Colombia guidebook was published in 2015, so that's pretty recent.
