Ok, ok, so I might be promoting an event that I'm organizing here, but please don't consider it spam - I'm putting it up here because I genuinely think some of you might be interested and it's for a good cause.

This Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 7pm, Melany Moloney, a Colombo-Australian singer-songwriter will be performing a number of her own songs, along with a mix of covers, at Cafe Terra Bar, near Avenida Boyacá and Calle 53 (also near the Celestino Mutis Botanical Gardens, if that's of help for some in picturing where...). (http://www.mapas.com.co can be a useful tool as well...)

Cost is $20.000, pay at the door. All profits from ticket sales, plus a percentage of the evening's consumption in the Salón de Egregor (the room in the bar where the concert will be held), go to Somos CaPAZes, the non-profit organization I run here in Bogota, which teaches conflict resolution skills to kids.

The exact address is: Calle 53 #71A-25. The bar's got a cool atmosphere, eclectic, a little reminiscent of Andrés Carne de Res if you've been there. After the concert you can stick around and enjoy live music in any one of the 3 or 4 rooms they'll have performers in - all with different styles of music that can range from hard rock to soft "trova" (like Buena Vista Social Club style or Silvio Rodríguez) to house, etc., depending on the room.

The event's also posted on facebook, if your interested: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=11902301386&ref=nf.

You can hear some of Melany Moloney's songs on MySpace at: http://www.myspace.com/melanymoloney.

If you want to check out Somos CaPAZes, you can take a look at the site on my profile.

Details in short:

Place: Cafe Terra Bar, Calle 53 #71A-25 (http://www.cafeterrabar.com)
Date: Saturday, April 26
Time: 7pm
Cost: COP$20.000

Hope to see some of you there!

Emilie
