How long (in time) is the bus ride from BAQ to CTG? AA,com doesn't sell flights to CTG...

I feel like an idiot but I'll answer my own question: 2 hours.

I was going to say one I thought they are only 40 kilometers apart.

Many of the buses on this route are really slow, really run-down and really uncomfortable. Get a bad one and it can take 3+ hours, with no air conditioning.

Call a porta-a-porta (door-to-door) express service, and reserve a time. The whole trip will take about an hour, maybe an hour and a quarter. 18,000 - 25,000 each way in a van. Check Invertours, Caribena, Marsol, etc.

Cheers,
Terry

Buses from Ctg to BAQ take the long, hilly road and therefore are a longer umfony ride. You can always choose the buse you take since there are many options with a high frequency. Dont remember the price. The smaller private vans drop you off at you hotel in CTG and take the fast, flat road.

From Baq to SMR there are a lot of options too, and you shouldn't take longer than 1 hour. It is max 10.000 COP (5USD).

Now what about the cost/ time from the Barranquilla airport to the Barranquilla bus terminal (where I'll take a bus to Cartagena)?

You will have to take a taxi from BAQ airport to the bus terminal, they are pretty close to each other and the taxi should be no more than 3 to 4 USD. The ride should take about 15 minutes in normal traffic conditions.

Have you tried Avianca flights from Miami to CTG? www.avianca.com

lol - that's a very legitimate recommendation viajero83, but I'm in the same boat (or AA-plane) that 7beckham will be. I'm not sure where his home airport is, but chances are the flight just to get from there to MIA would cost more than the Avianca flight from MIA to CTG. At least it did when checking the option for myself.

Cashed-in35K frequent flier miles for an award ticket; paid $88 on the taxes. Have to overnight in Miami going down/coming back. Any cheap recommendations near the airport?
