I just received a new ATM card. I thought it was going to be my number one card, but now that I see it, it might end up being the number two card. Why? It is neither a VISA or MASTERCARD. On the back of the card it has PLUS and STAR logos. Will that be compatible in Colombia?
Thanks.

Speaking of cards, I have a question too. The card of my spanish bank is a visa electron one. I was told by one employee it won't work in Colombia (or maybe anywhere outside of spain), but another person, the manager for my office, says it will (and I made a point of asking if it will work there too). I'm tempted to believe the manager seeing as he's the boss and should know more about these things than the other employee but you never know. Can anyone tell please me if it'll be alright or not? I ordered a credit-type card as well that also has the visa logo and that holographic eagle image. Thankss

I used in my trip thru Colombia a Visa Electron Debit Card, wich was not a Credit Card but had the Plus symbol on it. That was my regular card I use in Brazil to withdraw money from my saving account. I could use it in almost any ATM (and the money was taken directly from my account) but could not use it as a Debit Card - I dont know why but it alway got refused.
But before I could use it, I had to go to my bank and ask to activate its use outside Brazil.
