Try Hotel Villa Colonial. About $12usd a single, with good mattress, private bath (cold water only, but not a problem in hot CTG), and Cable TV too. Clean and well kept. In Getsemani. Its in the LP guide.

I just stayed in the Casa Viena in the Getsamani area, it was clean and nice the private rooms were $7USD pp and the dorm with aircon was $5USD pp. <ovely people and a good location to get to everything

Casa Viena is good and cheap, although because of this it's often full, and you can't really book in advance. If you go to Viena and it is full they will recommend you somewher that is nice and cheap to stay....

Hotel Doral is good as is Hotel Marlin.

All in Getsemani and all very near to each other....

I also stayed in Hotel Villa Colonial, and I liked it very much. It is very clean and well kept, with clean matress an towels everyday. They will arrange all tours for you, but I found out you can safe some money if you buy directly from the tour company. I payed 60.000 pesos (U$30) for a double with cable tv and air condicioning (trust me - AC is important in this very hot city!). Ask for a room with balcony, as they are much better! They also have rooms w/o air condicioning for 40.000 (U$ 20), when I asked. For adress, etc, check the LP.

Just mind the Getsemani area that seemed dodgy to me, specially at night.

Thanks for you replies. Actually found a really nice hotel in the Centro for $22 a night with Air Con and TV. Very clean and they change towels daily as well as clean the room. Defo was grateful for the air con.
