I'm traveling to Santiago, Chile next month. I have two questions. I have an ATM card that does not have an embedded chip, just a magnet strip. Will ATM machines work with cards without an embedded chip?

My charge cards do have embedded chips. When I use them in the US I do not need to use a pin. Do charge card readers in Santiago require a pin to use them?

Hello!
I hope someone out there has a little info that can help me out. I've been to Chile 3 times and am heading there Xmas day 2016. Flying into Puerto Montt.

Does anyone know the best way to get to Puerto Cisnes? Is it to fly to Balmeceda/Coyhaique? I'm having trouble finding bus info from there.

Thanks for any help!

Hi

Next April and Mai (40 days), me and my girlfriend will travel in Chile and Argentina. Our goal ist to travel from Santiago down to Patagonia and back up again.
Because we love driving we would like to rent or buy a nice big SUV or pick-up and sleep in the back of the car. The problem is, that we know it can get cold and maybe it's also dangerous to sleep in the car (in the wild and not always on a campground).
What do you think about our idea and would you recommend renting or buying a car?

We have booked a camper van in January pick up and drop off in Santiago.

I was thinking maybe driving up the coast to San Pedro and back, but worried we may run out of time?

We thought Atacama Desert would be amazing, and would definitely want to explore Valparaiso and Vina del Mar.

Any help would be great.

Thank you :)

My husband and I are preparing for our trek in Parque Nacional Torres del Paine between December 26, 2016 - January 2, 2017. I'm seeing many topics/questions on reserving campsites. My husband and I are bringing our own tents/cooking stoves/food/water. Do we need to make reservations to camp in the park? All we need is a spot to pitch our tent; we don't need food or shelter provided for us. Do we still have to make reservations at one of the campamentos or refugios? We are planning on doing the…

Hi All,
My self and two friends are in S.A for one month. We are flying to and from Buenos Aires. We are in B.A for three nights and then travelling to Mendoza. We are thinking of getting a return flight as it will save time. We are debating wether to go to chile or Uruguay for our final two weeks. We would like to chill on a beach but also have the options to do activities and explore. Which would be nicer, Chile or Uruguay and also which would be cheaper.
Any advise would be much appreciated.

Hi All,

I am going to Easter Island From Jan. 18th to Jan 22nd.

I am a painter and would look forward to booking some excellent tours around the Island. They seem to be charging 130 us dollars for a days tour from 10 am to 3 pm. Does anyone know of cheaper tours that are good? If so what is the name of the company? I did get this rate from Hotel Tauraa. Has anyone stayed there and gone on their tours?

Many thanks
Joan

Hi,
We are going to be in Chile for three weeks starting December 26th. The plan is to rent a car for the first two weeks and we are wondering if anyone can recommend scenic places to camp in the Norte Chico and Middle Chile (Sur Chico areas) or on Chiloe. We'll be bringing our tent and sleeping bags with us.

Hi! My boyfriend and I are returning to Torres del Paine park in early January. We did the W Trek two years ago, and now we would like to explore other areas of the park. We know we will be there in the high season and wow, it is so much more popular than even two years ago!

We would like to stay 3-4 nights in either Camping Lago Pehoe or Rio Serrano. However, despite multiple emails, calls and reservation form submissions, we have not heard back about reservations. When we got through on the…

I am posting this because of the ethical nature of the Vanman. We had a great time with The Vanman that I want to share. Christian Roy Montenegro Friedl (see Facebook) is The Vanman. I arranged his pickup and guiding services online before arriving in Valpariso. For the 3 days we used his services he took us where ever we wanted and places he felt we should see based on asking our likes. WE saw everything we wanted plus more. Tour is custom to your desires. Christain is 100% fluent in English…
