What's with the globs of mayonnaise used here in Chile? Does anyone else find that much mayo appealing? It grosses me out.
I would be travelling from the UK. Are any innoculations necessary ? I'm guessing not - but a second opinion would be more than welcome. Many thanks.
Quick question for anyone who can compare sandboarding experiences in Peru or Chile. As far as Im aware Huacachina near Ica and San Pedro de Atacama are the major sites, but which is best? I heard Huacachinas dunes are bigger but is it wise to go out of my way from the planned Cusco-Arequipa-southwards towards Argentina/Chile (possibly to Salta) route, just to get to Ica, or is SP de A just as good? Or is it all about Ica for these dune buggy rides i hear so much about?
Any pointers as to…
Long time reader, first time user, go easy. Going on a very quick 2 week trip in late November. Starting in Argentina, followed up by Chile. If you only had a week in Chile, where would you fly into? What would you do? Do you think this trip (since so short) is even worth the flight from Argentina? (vs. just spending 2 weeks in Argentina) Thanks!

Basically I am much more into native people's culture then European based culture. I love nature and hiking. Budget is tight but not that tight, I can afford 2 flights within…

Hello,
Just returned from Santiago, Rapa Nui and Valapriso trip. Was a lovely trip if a bit rainy.
Thanks to those here who suggested the Bella Vista Hostel in Santiago and the Mana Nui Inn on Rapa Nui. Both were EXCELLENT location wise, people wise and staff wise.
I'll post a longer trip report later, but now must sleep.
Thanks Again.
I have the chance to move to South American, I was thinking either Chile or Peru. I would like to voluteer and teach a little bit. Can anyone give me any suggestions about either of these countries. I have yet to traveled to S. America but I want to make sure that I know which country I would like to live in before I leave. Thank you!
Not sure if this qualifies as advertising. I hope not.
I recently finished driving around Chile and Argentina (from Santiago and BA, south). I have lived in Santiago for about 2 years and have a wealth of advice for travellers, drivers and prospective English teachers here.
I also happen to be returning home in November and WE ARE HOPING TO SELL OUR VOLKSWAGEN KOMBI VAN.
IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN DOING A LONG TRIP IN A SMALL GROUP THIS COULD SAVE MONEY ON HOTELS ETC.
I can also give advice…
