Im in Chile and heading for Santiago...its expensive to go to Easter Island ( $600!!) before I fly out to NZ....but I have the time. Is it worth spending the money and seeing it? How long do I need there and where is a good comfy sociable budget place to stay??

Hi,

I am having trouble getting a response from fantastico del sur. We will be in TDP mid March, is it essential to book? Is it worth contacting an agency in P Natlales instead, if so any recommendations? Can you hire sleeping bags (and tents if no space) at all refugios? Is veggie food available? Also, do you know whether you can leave your back pack at either the refugio or hosterias and collect on the way back, or is it best to leave at a hostel in PN? Thanks a lot

I've printed a couple of general maps of TDP. In some of the posts there mentions of hiking times, distances, etc.? What is the best map for the area and where may one obtain it in the USA?

I intend taking a 2 week holiday in the Puerto Montt Are. My travel plans are to go down the Carrettera Austral as far as Chile Chico, cross into Argentia, down to El Calafate and then back up to Bariloche and across to Puerto Montt. Is this a feasible journey. I enjoy driving, admiring the scenery and taking slight off beat excursions. I am thinking of 9 days to go down and three days back. Is that realistic??

Any advise appreciated

I have been trying to find the exact hours of operation of two border crossings in Patagonia: Paso Río Don Guillermo and Paso Dorotea. I want to know if either of these crossings is open 24 hours a day. I keep finding conflicting information. In the Dirección Nacional de Fronteras y Limites del Estado it says Don Guillermo is open, in summer, from 08.00 hasta 24 horas, which would be midnight. However a car rental company is insisting it is open 24 hours a day in summer. Also, when does the…

Hola

I would like to do the 'W' Treak in the Parque Nacional Torres del Paine. Next week I will arrive in Puerto Natales. Does somebody give me some informations what way is the best to organize this trip. I'm a new traveller so at the moment I don't have that much travelexperience ;) Is it necessary to organise everything in advance? Can I leave my 'big' pagage in a hostel in Puerto Natales? I read that it's possible to rent all the camping gear in the Parque in each camping in the refugios. do…

I have just arrived in Ushuaia (Argentina), driving from California, and I am also trying to sell my car.

It's a 1995 Buick Regal with about 212,000 on it. There is a bit of noise with one of the shocks, but I bought the replacement part in Belize, so it only needs to be installed, which I will probably do before the sale. Other than that, a mechanic has confirmed that there are no mechanical problems and everything is proper working order.

The price is currently set for $3,000 or the Best Offer…
