Ill be arriving in Puerto Varas on the morning/afternoon of 24th December and am keen on soaking up some Christmas cheer if at all possible as itll be my first Christmas away from my family..

Does anyone know of any hostels/restaurants which have any special plans for this Christmas? Traditional Christmas dinner & a boozefest would rank highly in my book!

Also, could anyone recommend a hostel in Puerto Varas which is likely to be full of backpackers in a similar situation to myself?

We´re travelling down the Carretas Austral in January, and hope to do a lot of walking - we also hope to avoid going to Santiago to buy maps... I´ve heard that photocopies of Chilean IGM maps are available at the Dirreccon De Validad in Coyhaique.

Has anyone bought maps in Coyhaique, and could you comment on what sort of a range they have available?

Any other suggestions for getting ahold of maps from Puerto Monte south, or in Buenos Aires (we´re here for xmas) would also be welcome.

Cheers,

Hello, heading to Chile next week. Can anyone give me a rough idea of a route to take south from Santiago, don't know how far we want to go but we want to cross over into Argentina to visit El Bolson and Barlioche before heading up to Buenos Aires, any ideas would be hugely appreciated. Is there anything worth seeing between Santiago and Torres del Paine?

Hola!

We are heading to Chile after a month in Bolivia, v exciting and do not want to miss anything!

We have booked our flights to Easter Island and have a week to explore.

We are hoping to have about a month in Chile and would love to hear your highlights, do not miss locations to ensure we have a sensational trip. Top 10 things to do, etc

For Patagonia, would you recommend jumping on a tour as it is so remote?

Muchas Gracias
Juanita

I'm in the process of planning a trip to Chile. I want to fly in to Punta Arenas and work my way north, so I'd like to book my flight MIA-SCL-PUQ and take the earliest reasonable connection to PUQ (Punta Arenas). The Lan flight from Miami gets in at 6:20 AM and the flight I'd like to take to Punta Arenas leaves at 9 AM. 2 and a half hours seems like it should be enough time. I'll be flying in late April, which I don't think is a peak travel time. Can anyone comment on immigration speed in…

Hi,
My friend and I will be in Santiago for Christmas and were wondering if anyone could highly recommend a FANCY restaurant where we can treat ourselves. Our budget is about $50 USD each. Thank you so much!!!
