Hi,
As I will be arriving late in Punta Arenas I was wondering if anyone could guide me to an area in the town that would make catching a bus to Puerto Natales . I have never been here and have know idea where anything is, so any kind of an address for lodging areas and any address for bus pick ups would really help. Or just about any info that may make this procedure smoother. I may be going to TDP or on up to Fitz Roy, weather dependant.
Thanks,
Tom
Hi everyone,
I'm currently travelling long term around the world. Right now I'm in Ecuador. Beautiful country. But I'm writing about Chile. My father (62) in respectable shape and an experienced backpacker in the past is coming to met me and my brother (who will join up with me there) for 3 to 4 weeks in Chile. He will fly from Toronto to Santiago. From there we need to decide whether to go south or North. (I will later explore whichever part we don't visit.)
A little about us: I love…
My boyfriend and I are travelling through South America and plan to spend a few days in Valparaiso over Christmas.
We want to stay somewhere homely but lively, where there are likely to be other people around to celebrate with. It also needs to be fairly inexpensive.
Has anyone spent Christmas there before and have any suggestions of where to stay? We have looked at tripadvisor and are considering Planeta Lindo Hostel.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks :)
Hello fellow travelers,
My friend and I are planning on going to Torres del Paine at the end of March. I don't think we will have the full five days to do the trek but wanted to ask if there are any other variations on the W or other short treks that we could do in 3 full days there. Thanks in advance!
Greetings!
I will travel to the south of Chile in February and I have some doubts about Torres del Paine and would really appreciate your help. I would really like to do the W trek, but I don't hike reguraly and I have never done a trek like this. Besides this I will be travelling alone. What would you recommend? Should I go and do the W or instead make some daily trips to the park? (and also about daily trips - is it possible to do them alone or is better to do it with a tour?)
Thank you for…
Hey forum,
Just wanted to post my experience in the Aysen Region. Hope it helps other fellow travellers. I was there for a week from late Dec/ to the 1st week of January. The region has a LOT to see/do and since we only had a few days we chose to do the stretch between Coyhaique and Cochrane. We flew to Balmaceda Airport (the nearest one to Coyhaique), rented a small 4x4 with Recasur (a local and trustable rental) and drove from there to Cerro Castillo village. That is the last cemented…
I'm traveling with a US passport. I had a flight from Medellin Colombia to Santiago, Chile through Avianca. When I went to check in at the Medellin airport, the lady at the counter told me that I needed proof of onward travel (leaving Chile) to board the flight. I wasn't planning to fly out of chile, instead I wanted to cross the border by land into Argentina.
Is this normal procedure? I couldn't find any information on travel.state.gov or the chilean embassy/consulate websites.
Hi,
This is my first trip to Patagonia and I have a ton of questions, but first things first. I am planning to arive in Punta Arenas on feb 4th around midnight. How do you get from the airport intown at that hour. If there is anyone that I could communicate directly with so I won't bother everyone with questions allready asked, please let me know.
Thanks,
Tom
Hi everyone,
I am a little hesitant to ask this question as I am sure it is asked quite frequently and I think I know the answer....but I'd like to double-check my interpretation against people's recent experiences. I'm a Canadian citizen (no dual nationality of any sort), and will be travelling through Argentina and Chile in January and February. I know that I have to pay the reciprocity fee for Argentina, as I'm flying out of Canada and into Buenos Aires. However, I'll be crossing…
