Hey guys, I know that most travellers make the 3 days/2nights tour from SPDA to Uyuni. But I am just wondering if it is possible to do the San Pedro to Uyuni trip in 1 long day? How many hours would it take and how much does a jeep/private transport costs? A "guide" is not really needed, just a car that drives all that way, with some short stops at one the way, f.x. Salar de Uyuni. Thanks for your feedbacks.

Hi All,

What is the usual level of shutdown on public holidays in Chile? Eg. do buses run as usual, and are many/any shops open?

More specifically, what happens on Reformation Day and All Saints Day?

Thanks!

Hi folks, I'm hoping there are some people here with experience on the W Trail in Torres del Paine.

We've booked camping and food at the refugios along the way, but we're wondering if we should bring our stove and some food just in case there is a problem with the refugios, and also whether we need to bring a water purifier pump or if there is enough clean water along the way.

We haven't booked bus tickets from Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales yet—we've seen conflicting accounts of how easy it…

Hello everyone.
I have finally booked my flights to Chile for 2 weeks (two people), I am arriving on March 27th and departing on April 9th (basically I have 14 days since I arrive in the morning and depart in the evening). I am trying to put together itinerary quickly and start booking hotels. I would love to have help with this and get any suggestions, especially since this is my first time to Chile. I do not plan to see all Chile at once (as in both South and North), but would rather explore…

Hi
Can anyone tell us if there is a reciprocity fee?
How much is it?
Do you pay it before you arrive or at the airport on arrival?
We know we don't need a visa. We are only staying 5-7 days.
Thanks Larrakin

Hello,

We are travelling from San Pedro de Atacama to Lima next summer and we probably have about 4 or 5 days to do so. We don't really want to do the trip in one take and are wondering which are the best places on the route to stop for one or maybe even two nights.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Hi all,
I posted about this a few weeks ago, sorry for the repetition. But now that I have a concrete plan, I have just a couple questions.
Is it possible to take a bus straight from Arica to Lima? Or do I need to take a collectivo from Arica to Tacna, then book a ticket to Lima from Tacna?
My Spanish is brutal, and I have had some struggles at bus stations in the past week.. If there is any way I can make the long haul all on one bus, that would provide me some relief :)
Are there any…

We have an opportunity, for a very short time, to get some cheap flights into South America so I am trying to do some extremely hasty research. we would be travelling in late December for about 3 weeks and have too many places we want to see. The two main areas are a very long way apart so I am seeking some advice as to whether this is ridiculous. Around Cusco, for culture, scenery, history is one area. The other is southern Chile for glaciers etc. We would probably…
