does this website even work? i've been struggling for the past 3 days to try to buy tickets on it.

day 1: i select my seats on the bus and it tells me to make an account, so i register (theres not even an option for registering as a foreigner and it seems to know my passport # isn't a chilean ID number, even when i throw in a "-" at the end), so i register as an army ID number (my only other option). after completing the registration the seats i wanted (first row on the panoramic bus) show up as reserved. i try refreshing the page but no dice. figure i'll try again the next day.

day 2: my seats are open again, so i select the seats i want, it tells me to sign in, so i sign in, and then the page refreshes and the seats i had selected come up as reserved and i can't choose them. i curse turbus and figure i'll try again later

day 3 (today): i select seats i DON'T want, sign in, and then get an error msg & an email at the same time saying my account has been cancelled. no reason why (maybe i kept flooding the system with seat reservations that always were left unpaid?)

so what the hell is going on? my patience is running out, but i'm coming from peru and on a tight schedule so i'd really like to buy these tickets before i get to chile. i'm not sure if there would be any harm in this - can someone who has a working account give me their sign-in info and let me pay for my tickets through their account? i'm trying to book a ticket from Arica to Calama at 10:35pm on Aug 3 with seats 3 & 4.

otherwise, does anyone have any advice? can you actually complete purchases on this page or are they still trying to get this page working?

Don´t worry. I don´t think you will have any problems to show up in Arica and find seats on a bus to Calama. There are other companies than TurBus too which don´t have websites. Websites in SA don´t work often very well.

I was never able to buy tickets on that website either, but we had no problem buying tickets at the bus station. Buses run frequently and are rarely (in my experience) full. I've never spent more than 15 minutes at a bus station in South America in general and Chile in particular.

You cannot book TurBus online from outside Chile unless you have a Chilean issued credit card.
TurBus redesigned their website a few months ago and the new one is awful. Use it to find the bus or buses you want and their cost, and then buy your ticket when you get here. I hope you find the seats you want. You may have fouled up their system so much with all your alternative numbers that you will find seats 3 and 4 waiting! :)
