hi, i just want to double check, i have a stop in chile santiago from 1pm to 9pm.

is it possible to leave the airport and visit the city without paying tax and other fees?

if so what is close apart from just the city? I am travelling with an australian passport heading to Lima, Peru.

I checked with my travel agent and apparently i don't have to pay as I will pay in Peru, any advice?

If you go through passport control you pay the reciprocity fee no matter how short the stay. The closest thing is the city itself, about 30 mins away by airport bus. Make sure to leave time for returning to the airport, collecting luggage from storage if needs be and checking in.

"I checked with my travel agent."

One good rule is to never believe anything a travel agent tells you.

vnrose is absolutely correct.

Naisarak,

It will take between 30-45 mins to get to the city. So you must deduct 90 min + 180 min (2 hrs before the departure)

There is nothing near enough to visit beside the city. Check for the highlights near the downtown.

Good luck!
