Hello,

I'm travelling through Chile and Argentina in jan and febr. I wondered if someone did any tour from San Pedro to salar de uyuni, Bolivia? I find a little bit of info in the LP of Chile but not much and they say that there are also a lot of complaints about these tours. Is it easy to find such tours (because i don't have much time in the north of chile and i'm travelling alone)? cheap? worthwhile the trip? Or better independent and go to Uyuni myself (i wasn't planning of going to Bolivia, and it would be a lot easier if i can do a 3 day tour from chile and back)

Thanks for any info!

Hi,

yep, did a tour from San Pedro 1 year ago. Easy peasy. Think it was with a company called Pamela tours in San Pedro. You shouldnt have to book till you're in San Pedro. It was cheap and well worth it. We had enough food and our driver didnt falla sleep or drive drunk(a lot of complaints are about the food and drivers).
We jumped off in Uyuni, but it shouldnt be a problem getting returned back to San Pedro.

We just did the Uyuni tour a week ago. Absolutely brillliant. But does depend on driver and car. We went with "Cordillerra" they were good, ask for juan or Walter, both have good jeeps. On the way back from Uyuni we had different drivers who didn't seem to have taken as much care of there jeeps, one in particular was more a dust hoover than a jeep, but definately do the tour, absolutely brilliant.

Hi,

It´s easy to book a tour in Uyuni which leaves the next day. I went on a tour of the salt flats last week with El Desierto and they were fantastic. There were only 4 of us (plus driver and cook) so plenty of leg room and the vehicle was new. I really recommend Carlos who is an expert driver/guide and Anna who did the cooking and some great vegan food! It´s worth paying more ($98 rather than $78 for 3 days) to have less people in the car, 7 maximum including cook and driver. Ask to see the vehicle before you book. It´s also worth leaving early on the day of your tour, around 9am to avoid all the other groups.

Enjoy!
