In November I will be doing a short hike from Refugio Las Torres to Mirador Las Torres, overnight at Refugio Chileno. In the LP is it written "4 hours one way, this relatively easy hike [---] The last hour is a knee-popping scramble up boulders". A part from the last hour that I know what to expect, I was thinking that the 2 hrs to get to Refugio Chileno would have been relatively easy, but I´m been reading a few post saying that it is not really so. For me it is not a problem, but I´m travelling with my father and now I´m getting worry that maybe it could be heavy for him (he was supposed to reach only the Refugio).
Can anyone tell me how is it like from Refugio Las Torres to Refugio Chileno?
Tx

Los Torres is at 139m, Chileno 410 m and the Torres Lookout 880m.
So the gain to Chileno is 271m which is not much over the distance. The hike to the Lookout is not that bad, at the top you work your way through a boulder field that thousands have done before you.

It is a very very easy hike from Refugio Las Torres to Refugio Chileno (except for occasionally strong wind gusts). It would be a WASTE to hike that 2 hours and stop there without going to the top of the trail on the same day even for someone who is over 65 years old. You should go all the way to the famous Spires at Mirador Las Torres and then descend to Refugio Chileno for the night. I met a 75 year old lady on the trail who was doing that. Just go slow and stop frequently on the last 45 minutes up to the spires.
