Hello

Does anybody know is check-in before departure of Navimag ferry is obligatory? They (Navimag office) cannot respond for my question since last week, and there's nothing about it in "contitions of carriage" posted on their website. The problem is that ferry leaves from Puerto Montt thursday early morning and checkin is day before till 5pm. I cant get to Puerto Montt before 9pm..

Thanks for help!

You can check in anytime before the ship leaves..

On Navimag website there's info, that check-in is day before till 5pm, boarding time 630am next day. Do you think that - having tickets booked online before - its ok just to arrive for boarding and skip check-in day before?

I did Puerto Natales to Puerto Montt about two years ago.. check-in and boarding is the night before sailing which is great because we got to stay on board the ship and save a night's accomodation ... on the day just before it sailed there were still passengers coming in..

Do you remember for what is checkin? As you have ticket already it seems strange.. Its rather not for leaving luggage to Navimag.. And in this case (P.Montt-P.Chacabuco) its unlikely that it would be possible to stay on board night before departure.

For my case check in and boarding is the same thing.. its not exactly a formal kind of thing.. we bought tickets at Navimag office at Puerto Natales in the morning and we board at night... since they depart in the morning I guess you can check in in the morning too...

Thanks, I'll stick to this interpretation :)
