Hi,
we are planning to have a trip througt south America on our own motorcycles in early 2008
(after the trip we will ship the bikes back home).

We want to ship our motorcycles from Germany to Punta Arenas in Chile (or to Valparaiso or Arica or Argentina ...).

My questions:
- Do we have to pay for an temporary / transit use of the bikes in Chile?

- Is there a good shipping company for the bikes?

Many thanks in advance

Why not contact Tom and Christine who did exactly what you want to do:

Check well because there used to be a catch: if you RIDE a vehicle to the country it is a temporary inernation, you do not have to pay for up to 6 months, if you SHIP (or fly or transport) a vehicle to the country, it is an import, and there is lots of paperwork and fees, even if you are taking it with you later.

Thank you for your great replyes
one more question, is it also a temporary importation, if i have a Carnet de passage?
