I made arrangement to do the W trek with my sisters in Feb a year ago. I unfortunately have an injury that is preventing me from doing the trek so I am scrambling to plan another itinerary. Is the Itinerary below doable?

Day 1 - Valpo
Day 2 - Valpo
2/16 - lake district or chiloe
2/17 - lake district or chiloe
2/18 - lake district chiloe
2/19 - flight to Punta Arenas (PUQ)
2/20- bus tour TDP
2/21 - torres day hike - TDP
2/22 - PUQ to SCL
2/23 - SCL to IAD

Should we go to the Lake District or Chiloe? I could also skip Valparaiso if necessary. Thank you!!!

The lake district is beautiful! Puerto Varas is really nice and there's a lot of fun things to do like bike riding or hanging out at the lake. There's also lots of restaurants and bars. You could go to Frutillar for the day where you'll see a lot of German influence from the food to the architecture.

Chiloe is nice as well, I just think the lake district is nicer.

Do you plan to rent a car in lake district? If not remember that by public transport generaly you are able to do only Parque Nacional Vicente Perez Rosales (saltos del Petrouhue and trek on the foot of the volcano Osorno). For rest you need more than one day (sleeping in parks).
If your time is limited do not waste time for Frutillar.
Chiloe is great, so so great but only if you have a car. On contrary cities on this island are awful and i think expensive.
So my advice. rent a car in Puerto Montt and go to Chiloe for 1,5 - 2 days. You save one day maybe for longer trekking in TDP.
If you want to see at least photos from Puerto Montt, Saltos, Chiloe, Frutillar you can visit my and my wife blog. This is in Polish but as i said you can see what you can expect.

Oh i almost forget. Valpo is also great. If you are in hurry you can easily spend only one whole day there, but it's worth to see it at night.

Thank you! We are taking both of your advice. We will rent a car and stay in Puerto Varas. Your blog is great. I wasn't excited about Chile once the W trek fell through but I have changed my mind and am looking forward to the trip.
