Hola,

My wife and I are visiting the Pucon region for a few weeks. I have a few questions for anybody who can help.

1. Flyfishing: We are from Colorado, USA and love to fish. I've heard of a few names from the some travel guides, but wondering if anybody has any experiences with local guides/outfitters? Please let me know.

2. How feasible is it for someone like myself (avid fisherman and outdoorsman) to go fishing in Huerquehue National Park by myself?

3. I hear there is a bus that takes you to Huerquehue from Pucon. Can somebody give more information about this (cost and where it actually drops you off).

Any help would be great. I can't wait for our trip!

If you want to fish anywhere this summer, you need to get a fishing license. The local municipality is usually the source. You can arrange fly fishing on the Liacura river from various places in Pucón. For Huerquehue, you could spend a night or two at the Tinquilco Lodge in the park as they arrange fly fishing in Huerquehue. It's a very nice place. I don't know about fishing on your own in the park.
The bus from Pucón to Huerquehue is a small bus. You get dropped off at the entrance, but it is about a 2 km hike to the Tinquilico lodge and the beginning of the proper trek up to the lakes. The bus is really cheap but I don't remember how much, and it gets very full in summer. A lot of people just get a taxi out and arrange to be picked up at a certain time. You could see if the taxi would take you into the park as far as the lodge. The road is really bad and not all want to.Tinquilco lodge
