Hi

I will be in Puerto natales and would like to do a 1 day trip to a glacier. I did a half day trek on one in new Zealand before. This time I'm more interested in hearing the creaks.

Perito moreno is meant to be fantastic but its a long day trip from puerto natales. And I think I would just have short time on boardwalks.

Glacier grey is nearer and I could do boat trip there.

If anyone has seen both can they give me recommendation?

Thanks.
Michele

Yes been to both last month but not trekked and had rental car. Yes Perito Merino is the best but quite a trip from Natales. Would think about 4 hours each way - we stayed in Calafate to see it. The sights and sounds were amazing. Glacier Grey was great too but overshadowed by P M as we saw that first. You won't be disappointed by G Grey I'm sure.

Thanks. Did you trek on perito moreno which means may have enhanced your experience; or is it just fantastic?

Leaning towards perito moreno only because it's more famous but I know it will be harder to get too and will be a long day.

Hi no we didn't trek on either but know PM is a wonderful experience if you trek. We're too old! Am sure you'll enjoy whichever you choose. Good luck.

well in Patagonia you have to take time to see things, is there no way you can spend two days traveling to Perito Moreno? It's a once in life time experience, try to arrange your travels so you have time to see things!

Thanks very much for replying. I'm really confined for time and have booked domestic flights at this stage. I decided to go to perito moreno. I know it will be a long day with lots of travel but it just sounds amazing.

Take care.
Michele.

I only went to perito Moreno from puerto natales but i could see the grey glaciar from the shore (soooo far!)... well i cannot suggest you to go to Argentina for a day trip since is really exhausting even if the glaciar is amazing. Check the agency for an ice hike in the grey glaciar (day trip)....

Thanks so much. I'm just on plane heading to chile now. Very excited. I decided to do day trip to perito moreno. It would be shame to be so close and not see it.

Regards
Michele
