Hi All

Someone mentioned a clibing fee for Patagonia, is thi strue and if so does anyone knows how much?

I know there is a 3 dyas entrance fee to the park but hadn't realised there's a fee for climbing.

Secondly, I sort of remember someone saying you do not need to reserve a place in the park if you are camping, is this still the case?

Many thanks

Hi Gregor

I was talking about the 'W', I guess trekking would be the appropriate word here:-)

Sorry............ but yes, trekking around TDP.

hi vincess,

climbing in TdP park is petty extreme stuff...

the trekking is great though. i think there is a fee, not sure how much, but pretty small charge i think

when we did the circuit (a few years ago now..) you could just turn up to the campsites, no need to book,

cheers

Hi Gregor

Thanks for that. No I wasn't planning on climbing, just the wrong terminology, although I might try to give ait a go:-). I am planning on trekking, thanks for the info. Hopefully it won't be too crowded.

trekking = walking = hiking
climbing = mountaineering

Walking the trails requires admission to the park - there is a small fee. (It sounds like this is what you will be doing - walking)

There is a seperate fee for mountaineering and they have special camps reserved for those 'climbers'.

Apart from the park entrance there is no extra fee for trekking.
The climbing fee refers to climbers to the horns or the towers, very difficult and profesional vertical climb in rock and ice, that climbers need to be rescued from time to time at a great cost (helicopters, medivac, etc), so the fee is intended to help pay for those costs.

Thanks to all of your for your info. I am definitely not a mountaineer, so that just means that the entrance fee to the park, which I think is somewhere around US30 for a 3 days permit?

No I'm just looking to trek the well trodden path, nothing more serious.

All the same, thank you all for your help on this.
