Hey there, I'm flying into Santiago on April 9th, at 7am, and the a few hours later, I'll be flying to Calama, hoping to be able to catch a bus to San Pedro de Atacama that day. I've read that you can't buy chilean bus tickets online without a chilean credit card, which I don't have, so I'm hoping to be able to buy our bus tickets when we land in Santiago. Does anyone know if there are any ticket counters for buses at the airport where I can purchase them? Or are there so many buses that I can just arrive in Calama and hop on one without reservation?

There are no bus tickets for sale in the airport except for airport buses. If you are interested in taking a transfer directly from the airport to San Pedro, Transvip is now operating a transfer and are more reliable than Licancabur. You can book it online. The transfer is $12,000 pp.

Well, I've already got my flight to calama booked but I'm just wondering how far in advance I'll need to get a bus ticket from calama to San pedro

The transfer with Transvip is from Calama airport to San Pedro de Atacama. Sorry I wasn't more clear. If you want to take a bus from the city of Calama to San Pedro then you have to taxi to Calama and get a bus there. It is less expensive but a it's a lot easier to do the transfer from the airport (about 1.5 hrs duration).
