I'm going to be in Santiago from next Sat for a week and wanted to do a wine tour. All the tours I can find seem to be US$110+ and I was curious if anyone knows of budget operators? I know some of the wineries can be reached by metro/bus/taxi combnations, but really want a tour as I'm traveling solo. Any suggestions would be helpful!
Cheers
Howie

There is the one I visited , Concha y Toro. Cheap to get there in all public transportation. Take Metro to Puente Alto. From downtown take Metro towards Los Dominicos and swith Metro at Tobalaba. Puente Alto is at the end of this second Metro. In Puente Alto, walk two blocks or so to board a bus going towards El Pirque.....you need to ask anyone there. Tell the bus driver where you are going and he will stop by the winery entrance. Total expense, maybe $5 usd. There is also an expensive and a lower price restaurant. I believe we paid a nominal fee for the tour.

If you prefer a tour, have a look at the Turistik website. They do the hop on/hop off bus but also do tours. I don't think it gets cheaper for a wine tour than what they offer.

Viña Cousiño Macul, metro stop Quilin, then a a 15 minutes walk to the entrance of the vineyard, Quilin Avenue 7100, walk by Quilin Avenue to east (to the Andes Mountains, very visible) or a taxi from the metro stop, by there is a mall, with lot of taxis, the taxi only must round the rotunda, and go by Quilin Avenue east, to the vineyard (only say "entrada a Viña Cousiño Macul)
