hi all
not a question about wind rain prices buses hostels etc etc..
My q is, how easy is it to find good quality books in English in Patagonia? Is there a decent English language bookstore in Puerto Montt? (or an English section at least in a Spanish bookstore). What about El Calafate?
Would it be safe to mail a bunch of books to c/o P.O. Puerto Montt and pick them up going through?
I'm asking because I'll be in Patagonia for a couple of months and can't see lugging too many books around with me for all that time, even discarding as I go.
Thanks for your help

In Puerto Montt : Sotavento Libros are at Avenida Diego Portales 580...remember, you did specify 'good quality', as they know how to charge for 'engles', but at least they also have second-hand. Don't know of any bookshops in El Calafate, but if you scout around the hostals, etc, you could either swap if you find something or wave an appropriate number of pesos around! In Puerto Natales, World's End at Blanco Encalada 226-A could help, as could the folks at the English newspaper..blacksheep..located at Baquedano 719. Short of all that, you could pack Shakespeare, with a little Harry Potter, for light relief...or maybe Tolkein, which suits Patagonia far more than New Zealand! Cheers, Steve.

thanks Steve, this is the kind of minority interest info it's hard to find in guidebooks!
