Can any one please tell me if you use a four figure number for your card pin in Chile?

Where is a convenient bank to the cruise port in

Punta Arenas
Puerto Montt
Valparaiso

with an ATM inside the Bank please?

Are their maximum amounts and daily limits on the amounts you can withdraw on you card ?

Many thanks

You use a 4 digit pin in Chile. The ATMs are in an interconnected system called Redbanc. If you go to redbanc.cl and click on the english version, you will find a locater for everywhere in the country and a simulator you can try to familarise yourself with the system.
I don't think there is a limit but my withdrawals are always humble.

YES, there are maximums that can be drawn out on a daily basis, same as in all over the world. To find our what the limit is , just ask for what you want, then ask for a lesser amount if it does not pay it out!

ATM's are everywhere in Chile..do not worry. I never paid attention if they also had them inside a bank..but they must. Visit the ATM machine showing the emblems/ symbols as shown in back of you ATM card to avoid any bank charges .

Four digits worked for me.

Victor,

The info above is correct.

4 digit pin numbers,
RedBanc is the network, so dont worry about which card to use.
$200.000 CLP (around 400 USD) is the max amount per day.
They are mostly everywhere in the cities. The three you mention wont be a problem.

Cheers

You can use your card if the card it says "Visa Electron" or "Plus", these nets works in redbank ATM (all the banks) and in Banco Estado ATM.
The limit for foreign cards is $300.000 CLP, $200.000 is for chilean cards.

Most of the world does not allow withdrawing in dollars, I think! ..never found one that did. To other readers , note that I said I think most of the world only!

ATM's in Chile do not let you withdraw in dollars but I understand they are easy to purchase although I have not done it.

Just curious, why withdraw in dollars? Exchanging dollar bills to pesos is a worst exchange rate than getting pesos thru the ATM.

the reason i ask this, is because in peru and bolivia you can!

i will be travelling down the caretera austral next februari and i will do the crossing from villa o higgins to el chalten... where in el chalten you can NOT witdraw money because of lack of ATMs!

in el chalten i will have to pay a guide, who will guide us around fitz roy (ice cap circuit), and need to be payed in USdollars!

if i withdraw usdollars in coihaique (for example), i don't have to carry a large amount of USD the whole time of my trip down the caretera austral.

so it is not possible like in peru and bolvia?

thx
