Does anyone who's been there strongly discourages bringing a 22-months-old toddler to San Pedro de Atacama? Apart from some full day tours and the early morning starter Tatio Geysers, are there any other must-see attraction we might miss?
Does anybody have a recommendation of family-friendly, intermediate / boutique, not too expensive hotel in San Pedro?
Any comments comparing taking a tour / self-driving with a rental car? Are the attractions accessible at all with a regular car?
Any comments and tips will be highly appreciated. Gracias!

There is lots to see driving a rented car, w/o 4WD. Roads were good to most attractions , both times I visited, although I did it in a tour van. Do not miss visiting the lake , flamingos, old towns, and other unforgettable sights, sorry, I forget names. Google for details. Yes, I do it. Take your baby in front/ rear pack. Saw one year old in the Grand Canyon, parents hiked 9 miles to the bottom staying overnight at Phantom lodge. Good luck!

Thank you for you input, Roberto1938. I'm certainly not that fit and brave as these parents are and with mixed feelings I have decided to skip the Atacama for now and will be heading to Colombia instead. Maybe next year...tks again!
