I was looking for anyone who is hiking alone or a group that wouldn’t mind me joining them to hike the circuit. The guide book said it was not allowed (or advisable) to hike this section alone but I hear it is highly recommended. I fly into Punta Arenas on Dec 17th and then plan to head up towards the park. I would have my own gear/camping equipment and in very good physical shape so wouldn’t be a drag down the group or anything. I had planed to go down with a friend but as he is still dragging his feet I am sure he won’t go now. Also, can the circuit be done safely alone or is it easy to meet some people to hike with once down near the park? If anyone is available/willing send me a message and I can give you my email or # if your in the US to coordinate. And of course I would offer a round or 2 of drinks after the hike.

You can do the circuit alone. No problem, but of course it is better to have a partner. Anyway, you will meet lots of people on the circuit and can join them. There is one stretch which you should not do alone which is from Campamento los Perros over the John Gardener pass to refugio Grey (this is quite long for one day and there are 2 campsites before refugio Grey). But for this part most people join together anyway and everybody leaves early as the weather often gets worse after midday. If the weather is already very bad in the morning it is better to wait for the next day. I did the full circuit 10 years ago with my 9 year old son and we had no problems. And the circuit is definatly highly recommended.
