We are flying into Puerto Montt from BA in March, and have 8 days in the Lake District before we fly to Punta Arenas. We like to explore, drive back roads, hike a bit, see wildlife, and not stay anywhere for more than two nights. We've done a lot of research - and now our heads are swimming. We'll have a car - and our budget is somewhere above hostels but below fancy. Would appreciate all ideas/comments - places we can't miss - great little towns that are off the tourist routes, etc. (Is 8 days in the Lake District too long?) Thanks!!!

We are also going to be in the lake District of Chile in March for about 9 days. We have no definite plans, yet. Places we are interested in are: the island of Chiloe, Porto Vargas and traveling into Argentina to Baraloche. We would appreciate ideas of others who have been there.
