I'm making what may be a misguided attempt to last minute plan a 2-week vacation from the U.S. (Washington DC) to Recife and/or environs, and was wondering if anyone had any advice on the following?

1) What weather is supposed to be like. Is it a stupid place to visit in May? I can't change the timing but I can change the location.
2) Best way to get there without wasting my whole 2 weeks traveling, or my whole 2-week budget paying for travel. (This might be either/or, so if you know the tradeoffs…

Does anyone know if there is a direct bus from Iguassu to Bonito, and from Bonito to Sao Paulo??

If anyone is in Rio on Monday night there is a free concert being held at Copocabana beach at 7pm, to my knowledge there a Samba performers such as Jorge Aragao and Jorge Ben Jor, there both really good and i have the cds to prove it ; )

Just thought i´ll spread the word, definitley worth checking out for the outdoor scene, oh and to my knowledge everyone wears white short or pants and a red shirt in commemeration to St George.

anyone one in natal on monday night, want to get together to celebrate st georges day (any excuse for a piss up). any ideas for venues welcome.

Will be in RIO from 2nd May, looking to spend some nights in Petropolis, does anyone have info on a good hike, either for a day trip or a couple of days out? Is it easy to go hiking alone or would you recommend a guide? Are there any hiking groups that I can get in contact with?

Everything on the web appears booked out. Can anyone help with places in the US$50-120 price range
