Okay. Strange Question.

I am normally a backpacker and stay in Hostels. However, I have a business trip to Sao Paulo (Campinas) in late June and will take 3 days at the end of the trip to go to Foz du Iquazu.

So, for the business trip, I normally take a suitcase. For the trip to Iquazu, I would like to take a backpack. I don't want to take both.

I would like to stay in a hostel in Iquazu since I'm paying for it, not my company. Would I be out of place with a suitcase in a Hostel? More likely to be seen as a Rich Tourist and likely to be 'scammed'?

Any thoughts?

Agree with Jorge, I wouldn't worry about what kind of bag you carry your stuff in; you ought to just stay alert regardless. If you get scammed, it won't be because you were carrying a suitcase.

You take a risk no matter what you carry when you stay in a hostel. Look at the kind of customers it attracts. If so fashion concious...get one of the combo units ...a suitcase, wheeled even, with backpack straps that hide away behind a flap when not in use.

Nothing to do with being robbed!!
There is a hostel super close to the bus station on the Argentine side- sorry I don't rmember the name, but you'll be able to find it.... I don't know which side you'll be staying on (BR or AR) but a suitcase will do for either.

so .. .are you worried about looking like a backpacker on a business trip. . or looking likea business type at a backpackers??
Just take whichever you feel most comfortable with!!! Either will carry the same stuff!
I have been in millions of backpackers. .. and seen every type of luggage. .. a suitcase sometimes looks alitlle out of place. .. but not really an issue??

No worries ... many travellers now a days are carrying suitcases and not backpacks ... I wouldn´t care about this.

In Foz do Iguaçu , a good hostel is PAUDIMAR HOSTEL.

Hope you enjoy your days in Campinas ... I live here ... :o)
