Hi folks,

I will have three weeks in Brazil in October. As I want to visit some friends in Buenos Aires, Argentina, I would like to do the southern part of Brazil -I land in Rio de Janeiro-. Basically a loop passing Sao Paulo, Florianopolis, Uruguay and back to Rio by Missiones ...

Lots of topics deals with the northern part, Bahia, Recife, Manaus, Lençois .... but poorly about Florianopolis and the south. Do you think visiting Rio and the south would be a mistake (in comparison with doing the north) ? Some people say that it is not the "real Brazil" ....

Any suggestions appart Iguazu and Bonito, already done ! What are the musts appart from that to tatse Brazil ? (ilha grande ? Sao Paulo? how many days in Rio?)

Do you think that 500 euros can make it for three weeks on a budget travel ..

Sorry if such questions have been previously asked, but I did not find response in 10 pages of topics ....

Peace on you

I guess it depends on your definitions and what you want out of the trip. Every part of Brazil is as "real" as any other. It's a country not an amusement park. The south is very different to the north, the central west or the north east but that's not really surprising. There seem to be quite a lot of posts re Florianopolis.

Regarding your budget one can only hope the 500 euros doesn't include transport. if it does you really need to doa serious rethink, travel costs would eat most of that. 500 euros is about 1300 reais. Over 3 weeks that's about 60 reais per day to cover food, drink, accomodationand sundries. You probably could manage it but it would be a pretty spartan trip.
