Hi,
I am travelling to Brasil next week for work and I intend to take some holiday whilst I'm there (4th - 20th August). This is my first visit to Brazil!
A friend of mine who lived there for 8 months advised me to visit Rio and in particular Ipanema and the Ihla Grande in the first week and then move on to Salvador for the second week.
I will be travelling alone and want to meet up with other like minded people to enjoy the beach and party.
I am looking for any recommendations you can give me on places to stay where I can meet up with similar aged people (mid-20's to early 30's). This could be hotel or backpacker accomodation.
Any tips on how best to travel from Sao Paulo to Rio, Rio to Ihla Grande and Rio to Salvador would be also helpful.
Thanks for your time,
Peter

In Salvador I will recommend you to stay in Barra which is close to the beach , safer and quiter as Pelourinho . I did a 3 nights stay with www.ranchlarcade.com , 2 hours by car from Salvador in the nature with horses .
In Ipanema , check www.casa6ipanema.com and you have for 65 reais a transfert from Ipanema to Ilha Grande on Tuesdays .
I guess that´s a good start !
John.

Hi unclebobby - I am doing a similar trip in early September, so would love to hear about your trip and any recommendations.
I have been bored at work, so done of research and plan on staying at the Ipanema Beach House Hostel in Ipanema, rockclimbing excursion with Climb In Rio, then head to Ihla Grande. I think I might check out the aquarios hostel in Ihla Grande.
Have a good trip!
