Hi everyone.
I'm travelling south america later this year, finishing up in rio for carnival before heading home to sunny Wales. To say im excited is an understatement but I'm a little confused as to the best way of planning it. I assume that turning up on day one and trying to find somewhere to stay would be a nightmare so I want to sort it before I leave.
Understandably prices rocket at this time, but I found what looks like a very nice hostel in botafogo -£700 for a double room with breakfast for 6 nights. It seems reasonable enough to me given that ive seen packages with companies like bamba for over £1500. These tend to include city tours, parties, favela tours etc but surely my hostel will also be able to arrange those too, and isn't the whole city a party during carnival?
If anyone has been and can offer advice on planning, as well as good areas to stay and things to be aware of it'll be very well rceived and appreciated!
Cheers.
Lee
