Hello all,

I'm moving to Rio from the UK to teach English in the new year. Very excited about this!

Can anyone recommend some good Rio bars and cafes to go to meet local expats/travellers (as well as locals of course)?

It would be great to know a place where I can head in my first week, so I can meet people to discover the city with etc

Thanks

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,
I am an Australian who has been living in Rio for almost a year now with my husband. Most expats hang around Ipanema and Leblon, which incidentally are the best places to live. Zero Zero in Gavea is a bar/nightclub and always has friendly people there. Feel free to PM me for more info.
