We have to choose between going to Santa Catarina or Paraty? Has anyone been to both? Which one would you choose & why? We will have about 5 days there... Looking forward to your feedback... Thanks

Do you really mean Santa Catarina? It is one of the southern States of Brazil with towns like Florianopolis and Joinville.
If you think places near Rio de Janeiro to relax a couple of days, there are Angra dos Reis and Paraty on the beach and
Penedo on the Atlantic mountains. All places with nice hotels and good restaurants.

I would not head to Santa Catarina, will be cold rainy this time of year. Head for Paraty, Angra dos Reis--onto Ilha Grande, warm, nice beaches, fun nightlife on the weekends..

Thanks for your feedback Erkucha & Saviajaro.... Yes we are catching a bus from Iguaccu falls to Ilha Grande but we have a week to spend somewhere on the way.... so we were looking at Santa Catarina (a little out of the way but thought it might be nice) or Paraty.... Will look into the weather business.... Thanks
