Hi,

My new 2007 lonely planet and the brazil consulate in houston, say that you definately need to get a brazil visa before hand to go see the brazil side of iguazu.

BUT my sister went in a taxi to brazil for a day trip in December and said the taxi driver took care of it...but they stayed on the argentina side.

Any one recently gone with the latest info?
Can you just go for a day on a bus and get back into argentina? or do u definately need a brazil visa

Is it worth going all the way there just for one day on the argentina side?

THANKS!!

Previous report:

* There is a local bus from central Puerto Iguazu that just waves through the border and drops you in the main bus station in Foz. You do not need to do migration stuff in or out if you are only crossing for a day trip (applies coming either way, and same for Ciudad del Este).

you'll get more and better-informed responses if you post this on the brazil and argentina branches.

You do not need a visa if you are not going farther into Brazil. The law is there but it would be too expensive for Brazilians to enforce it and they would lose much needed American tourists.
