My wife and I will be arriving in Manaus on July 2, staying at a hotel for 2 nights and then catching a 4 night riverboat tour and on the last of the boat tour we will be dropped off at the boat port at 8:30 AM on a friday, then we catch a flight that same night at 11:30 PM.
My question is how do we spend that last day when we get off the boat while waiting for our flight back to the US at 11:30 PM?
Any place safe where we can store the luggage during the day? Should we just get a room at a hotel? Is there a decent hotel at the Airport?

Sitting in a bar bemoaning the fact that you really are in o cu do mundo?

If you've spent two days there prior to your trip, you can be confident that you will have exhausted the worthwhile possibilities of the city. If I was you, I'd book myself into a hotel and enjoy the air conditioning.

1) What to do in a day in Manaus: we are all different, unlike many (most?) people we found lots to do in Manaus and suggest that in two days you will not have seen/done all of the following, so pick one or two of the one(s) you haven't:

  • Teatro Amazonas,
  • Palazio de Justicia,
  • Igreja y Parque y Afandega,
  • Palacio Rio Grande,
  • Palacete museos,
  • Parque Mindu,
  • Jardim Botanico y Museu de Amazonas (this is immense and well worth the visit in my view).

A bit further however doable: head for Presidente Figueiredo and visit the falls and/or Balbina Hydro (Aquatic Mammal Reserve)

2) What do you do with your stuff? Answer keep it to a minimum to start with - for a stay of a week in a single climate you should be able to keep this down to light backpack (each). So either keep them with you or take them to airport and drop them off at the luggage storage place (reported to be one, haven't used it myself).

If none of the above appeal then spend the day at the pool in the Tropical.
