Hi i go to Manaus for 11 days on 13th June (into rainforest for 36 hours). Do i need to take action against Malaria, whats cheapest most effective way of doing this if so that wont make me feel weird?
Anything else needed, i am up to date on hepa, b tetanuas, typhoid, diptheria etc. Yellow Fever is in date too
You don't need anything else. Many people do take malaria prophylaxis, but if you want to do that, I recommend seeing your doctor or a travel medicine clinic for specific advice. Do make sure you bring strong insect repellent and light layers you can wear in the evening in the jungle--that's the best protection against malaria and dengue. While some people (locals) do catch dengue in Manaus itself, I've never had a huge mosquito problem in the city.
