Hi!

I just arrived in Rio and will be working here for a couple of months. What´s the cheapest way of making international personal phone calls?

Have a phone in my hotelflat. Also considering buying a mobile.

Just use Skype in any of the internet cafes;
You can call a fixed line for about 0,03 USD per minute

If Skype is not an option, try SpeakMax cards. You can find them in Rio. A phone call to the States costs R$0,10 a minute. R$0,15 a minute if you are calling the UK.

Thanks for the replies! I'm a big Skype user but to some cell phones the connection is really bad and the person at the other end can't hear me. SpeakMax sounds like a good option, will check it out.
