Hello everyone, My husband and I are going to be in Cuiaba in September 2016. For most of the trip we will be at Araras Lodge but are planning on spending a couple days in Cuiaba at the end of our trip.

Can anyone recommend hotels? Preferably something located within walking distance of some sights. Also if anyone has recommendations for restaurants, shops, museums etc I'd love to have them.
Thank you all in advance for any info.

Walking distance of what sights? Wanna shop for a saddle? Don't know what you are imagining, but for tourists this is a jumping off point for Pantanal tours, not really a destination in itself. Check out the wiki travel page for the city.

With Neuzao on this one, despite her name change ;)

I would head to the Chapada dos Guimaraes or Nobres for those days. The bit I saw of Cuiabá was not very interesting. The lonely planet mentions a decent museum, but it was closed when we were there. Other than that I can't remember anybody mentioning any sights I was even remotely interested in (and we asked our Pantanal guide, who told us to relax by the hotel pool rather than expecting anything interesting to see in Cuiaba :D )
