Has anyone been through the process of getting someone else pick up their WC tickets in a center in Brazil? I am in the US and know some people in Brazil who could do this for me, but would like to send them all of the documentation needed so they don't waste time making multiple trips. The FIFA website is a little vague on this so would love some first hand comments. Thanks in advance.

I have tried to contact FIFA about how to do this. They have not responded. There terms say that you have to have a power of attorney signed (I don't know if it has to be in portuguese) also it says you have to have a copy of both persons ID's notarized (once again I don't know if it has to be a Brazilian notary). This whole process is a mess with a month to go.

Yeah - that's my problem too. The FIFA site is too vague - I don't want to have someone take the trouble to go there only to be told that the power of attorney wording is wrong or something. I've heard on some sites that on the automated collection machines all that is needed is the original credit card used to book the tickets. But I'd like someone to verify that if possible.

Well to have a power of attorney drafted in Brazil is apparently a huge ordeal and somewhat expensive. Also the same problem applies with showing ID. It says you have to have a notorized copy of ID (notarized in Brazil or will the US work). When you said that you've heard that all someone needs to pickup the tickets is the credit card. Is that the actual credit card or the credit card #? This is a ridiculous requirement (Considering these tickets were bought months ago.)

Well it kind of doesn't make sense to have a power of attorney drafted in Brazil or documents notarized in Brazil because to do either legally you would have to actually go to Brazil. In which case you might as well pick up the tickets yourself.
The credit card thing is something that was mentioned on a couple of forums - I have no idea whether it is valid or not.

I can't comment on the specifics of the FIFA ticketing pickup but in Brazil if you require a document to be translated for any legal process such as appointing the power of attorney then it must be a tradução juramentada or sworn translation. That involves having the document translated by an officially licensed translator and stamped by them. This, naturally enough, incurs a fee.

If you are having a copy of a document translated, then that requires that you have it certified and stamped at a cartorio, which of course incurs another fee. It will usually mean that you need to produce the original document as well.
