OP, go to the Praça General Osario in Ipanema, there are two irish pubs (only one owned buy an Irishman), but you will meet plenty of people up for a drinking competition there.

There are Irish Pub's in pretty much every city in south america, but I'm sure you already know that, Carlos. They are a great place to meet travelers and locals who want to meet travelers. There are not always bars where people are extremely outgoing and friendly, I spent a month in Rio and found that many Cariocas didn't go out of their way to meet travelers. If OP wanted to meet lots of locals to drink with, he probably wouldn't have posted here.
