Hi -
I was just wondering if anyone knows the timetable of buses, or can give me a link to a website? I'm flying into Salvador and am hoping to go straight to Lencois for two or three days.

Thanks
SM

Hello

We are in Salvador currently and are looking at heading to Lencois on Thursday, yesterday I went to the tourist info centre and was provided with the following info.

The bus to Lencois leaves from the bus station (Rodoviaria) twice a day being 0730 & 2330. The bus takes 6 hours and the cost is R$41.20. The bus company´s name is Real Expresso and their phone number is 3450-9310.

I don´t have a web address but I trust the above helps.

Thanks so much, that's good to know.

I don't suppose you know the times of the return journeys? Sorry to be cheeky!

Hope you have a great time there!

Mmmmm Lençóis is great, don't miss restaurant Cozinha Aberta, it's a bit expensive but the food is soooo yummie. I like their branch on Av. Rui Barbosa (around the corner from the bank) best.
For tours I was happy with Lentur, open until 10pm, or early morning for bookings for trips leaving right away. (Late bookings enable you to haggle over the price).
For walks in the vicinity of Lençóis you can rent a local guide, for example my guide Anderson was very friendly and patient. Ask around for him on the main square (most guides hang out in front of the shop called Dois Irmãos (or was it Tres Irmãos?)). Some other guides are recommended in the Lonely Planet guidebook. I really loved the walks to Riberão do Meio, Riberão do Baixo (natural slide! bring old pants to go down it, they will rip), Poço Hally, Cachoeira da Primavera etc.

yep the buses go at 7am and 11 pm both ways. couldnt be easier.
if you arrive early and dont want to go downtown when landing in Salvador, take a taxi straight to the rodoviaria which is on the same side of town as the airport. buy your ticket for the evening, and waste the remaining hours in the giant shopping mall across the footbridge from the bus station - it has a food court, cinemas, internet cafes, cute upper-class people watching etc so no problem to hang out there.
another option would be to while away the day at Itapoa beach, also close to the airport. you probably will find a restaurant or shop that can keep your bags for a few hours.
