Greetings! Can anyone tell me if there's a bus that goes from Cuiaba to Iguazu? And if so, do you know how long it takes and what the cost is? Thanks in advance for the help!

I haven't tried that route myself. Direct bus; probably not, but you could connect in Rio or SP. Try this link: [http://www.buscaonibus.com.br/en]. If you're going for World Cup, buy your bus tickets well in advance.

There is one direct bus from Cuiaba to Foz do Iguacu. It leaves at 6:10am and arrives at 1:20pm the following day (takes approx 30 hours). A long long bus ride. If you have time, perhaps breaking it up in Campo Grande/Bonito where you can connect to Iguacu.

Thats one long bus ride. I wouldn't want to do that in one go. Campo Grande is halfway. There isn't a lot there - its a jump off to The Pantanal and Bonito is 5 hours away (which has lots to offer).

If breaking it up isn't possible (due to time). Then grab a flight.

We plan to arrive in Cuiaba on July 17 or 18th and spend a full week in the Pantanal. We need to be in Iguazu by the 28th, so I think we have about 3 extra days to play with. In your opinion, should we end our time in the Pantanal by heading out to Campo Grande and catching a bus from there to Bonito, spending a couple of days in Bonito and then continuing on to Iguazu, or would it be a better use of the extra 3 days to fly early to Iguazu and then head out from there for a couple of days to explore Uruguay before returning to Iguazu for our 3 day stay there with family members? Again, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The website www.buscaonibus.com.br is useful for looking up bus timetables in Brazil (however it does not have any information for getting to Bonito!).

I would definitely say that Bonito is worth a stop, however you need to think about the logistics. The last bus from Campo Grande to Bonito leaves at 18.00, so to avoid wasting time in Campo Grande you´d need to make sure you get there before this time (i.e. look at getting an overnight bus from Cuiabá to arrive in CG in the morning, and then head straight to Bonito). To get to Foz do Iguaçu from Bonito there is only one option, and the bus leaves at 14.30, arriving at about 08.00 the next day, with a change in Dourados.

So, if your week in the Pantanal ends on the 24th, you then take an overnight bus to CG and arrive in Bonito in the afternoon on the 25th, you will have all of the 26th, but then leave early afternoon on the 27th. So although you may have 3 ´extra´ days, you won´t be spending all of them in Bonito.

Also, if you do go to Bonito, since you are likely to only have 1 full day there, and it will be high season (due to the school holidays and the winter festival) you will need to book whatever tour you want to do in advance (i.e. at least 4-6 weeks in advance).
