Hi Guys,

I fly to Caracas in 3days, no idea where i'm staying and a few vague ideas what to do. Then 6 weeks later i return from Rio. I've been told as i'm clueless i must get a Brazil Airpass? where from, have i got time? can i get it at Gatwick Airport on tuesday/wed? i fly at 6am, can I buy it then? I intended to buy travel insurance, decide what to do out there on monday.
Thanks for reading my post, all ideas welcome (excepting insulting ones)

Cheers V

If i kept a diary it would be called 'a dis-organised idiot's guide to life'!

A Brazil airpass won't be any use if you want to use it from Caracas, you need the Mercosur airpass. As you admit to (and sound like) being "clueless", I'd suggest you consult a travel agent (it's what they're for!) preferable one who knows about S.America, you won't be able to get a pass at Gatwick before departure.

You have to get a Brazil air pass from a travel agent or Brazilian airline, in conjunction with an international ticket. Travel agent is your best bet. If TAM has offices in the UK (I do not think they do), they might help. You could get one in Caracas from TAM if you buy your ticket into Brazil at the same time, but unless you are traveling to a few places in Brazil it is, as noted, a waste. I do not know if a Mercosur air pass is even good in Venezuela (are they in Mercosur yet?).
