Hi Guys,

I am doing a solo Brazil tour end of oct for 12 days. I know thats very short but unfortunately thats all the time I can take off of work. I am looking for suggestions on what to do in each city I am visiting. Here's my itinerary -

1. Amazon (3nights/4 days) - Planning on staying at the Amazonat and doing their Jungle Trekker/ Arara package. Anyone done either of this before?

2. Salvador (2 days) - I am there during the weekend and will be staying in a hostel close to the beach. What are the must do's here? Where are the good parties? How are the beaches compared to Rio? Samba classes?

3. Iguacu (1 day) - This day will be hectic. I reach in the morning and leave 24hrs later. I think my hostel organizes tours to the falls. Should I just do that? Are there any rides/ tours once i get to the falls that I must do? Only on the Brazil side.

4. Rio (4 days) - Staying close to Ipanema beach and there for the weekend again. Best part of beach, parties, must-dos???

I love the outdoors so if any of you have suggestions on hikes and other things that I can do in rio/salvador, I would love to hear it.

Also, how easy is it to get around all these places with no knowledge of portugese or spanish? It will definitely be nice to know the local language so I am going to try to pick up as much portugese as I can in the next couple of months.

Thanks in advance!

Salvador has the best beaches!!!!!Samba is fr Rio, in salvador, you may want to do capoeira, and listen to the axe music, and the drum music.beaches in salvador:Praia do Forte, Jaguaribe, Vilas do atlantico. to listen the drum music, see capoeira and walk around at Pelourinho. and do the jump at Vitoria Marina!
Iguacu, i think you may better arrange it before you leave, i think.
Rio, be careful in Rio, you may get robbed even in a broad day light at the beaches. so be low key, try not to show off at all. try not to look like a gringo.
i heard night clubs there are very naughty. go to cocorvado and Pao de acurga, travel spots. oh....if you have to chance, go to Cabo frio. nice beach there. only about 3 hours drive from Rio.
Amazon, do you have to do the injection to prevent the yellow fever, or whatever?tell me after your amazon trip, coz i want to do that next time.
yeah, you may need some portugese, english is not very widely spoken there, not even many english signs there. menu, no english. so you may need to know frango is chick, stuff like that.
i really suggest you do a duo brazil tour. solo is really hard...
anyway, good luck.
