For those of you traveling through Bolivia who really want to have a authentic experience, go check out the village of Maragua, outside of Sucre. They weave Jalq'a weavings, have dinosaur tracks in pure rock, and two waterfalls over 200ft. They are still mostly a traditional subsistence farming community. I lived with them for two years as a Peace Corps volunteer, and now there is a little hostel out there were you can stay.

If you would like to learn more, you can read about my experience…

Hi there,

I have to go to Santa Cruz de la Sierra from Sao Paulo, and I am considering flying (around 250 US dollar) or taking a bus to Campo Grande and Corumba (border). I was thinking in 4-5 days if I choose the bus option.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks !!

I will cross post this one in the Brazil thread also.

Hi,

Any recommendations for a doctor or clinic in Potosi? My friend had a head cold and arriving in Potosi at 4100 metres hasn't helped, now the symptoms could be due to either.

Thanks for any quick reply!

I'll be in Bolivia very soon, hoping to go from Uyuni to Potosi about a week from now. So it was with some anxiety that I was following the news about the blockade of Potosi and the general strike there.

But It seems that the strike is over and everything is back to normal. That is, according to my reading (aided by Google Translate) of the Potosi newspaper:

Am I right in thinking that Potosi is back to normal…

Hi, dear lovely travellers in Sucre,
I know, it´s unrealistic, but lets give it a try: Is there anyone in Sucre right now having a CANON camera EOS100D? If yes, could I lend for 2 hours to charge my batteries?
I was so smart to leave my charger in my hometown.

Kind regards and have fun in Sucre (even if you do not have the camera hahaha!),
Andreas

Please, are glacier rifts there?
Ice axe and crampons is enough?
Or to have rope is necessary/better?
Is it without problems to leave the tent and things without supervision in high camp?
Thanks very much.

Hello,

The last post I see on this topic in the Bolivia forum is from two years ago, so I want to make sure I have the correct information. Do US citizens (flying into Bolivia directly from the US) need proof of yellow fever vaccination in order to obtain a visa?

Thank you,
Sandra

The talks in La Paz broke down a couple of days ago and the civic leaders returned to Potosi, where they received a welcome fit for heroes.
On Thursday evening it was announced that the blockades around the city would be lifted for 12 hours during Friday (yesterday) to allow people to stock up larders, fill up with petrol, draw cash, etc. Further measures to advance the city's claims would be decided on Friday evening, it was said.
This morning (Saturday), it's reported (Spanish speakers look at…

Hello!
I was just checking out the Bolivian Airlines website, and cannot seem to find any example fare for LPB to Chochabomba. I see they have about 8 flights a day, but how much is it? The Lonely Planet says the tickets are reasonable, and the bus is about 20 hours, so I would much rather just fly. Does anybody know a general price range of this airfare? Also, would it change substantially in price if I walk up to the Bolivian Airlines desk in LPB airport and purchase it the same day I want…

Hi everybody
My name is Coraline. I'm travelling by myself this summer from Rio to Lima and I'd love to do this trekking from La Paz to Coroico (3days, 2nights, around 900 Bolivians). But I need one more people to become "a group"!
I am French, 25 years old, I speak English and a bit of Spanish. I'm curious of many things and easy going :)
I'd like to go for this trekking either on Thursday 30th or Friday 31st of July, and come back either on Saturday or Sunday.
If you are interested and feel we…
